Ahead of an official debut, Godfrey has already accomplished various feats ranging from securing a song placement in a feature film from Academy Award winner Matthew Cherry to performing at Coachella as a featured vocalist.

The single, marking an official foray into Godfrey’s nuanced sound, offers a melodic expression of freedom echoing the enlightenment the holiday commemorates. Its intentional release seeks to offer a unique message of freedom in a season where Black oppression is at a global forefront.

“Wireless is about personal freedoms,” said Godfrey. “It’s about detaching ourselves from the constraints of society and culture. Like Juneteenth, ‘Wireless’ at its core celebrates our liberated humanity.”

“Wireless” will be available for purchase and streaming on all digital platforms on June 19, 2020.
